As well as providing an incredible feel while gaming, it comes with customisable RGB lighting, dedicated media controls, a USB passthrough, a metal volume wheel and my favourite feature, the detachable wrist rest.
The added comfort the wrist rest brings is unbelievable, even over long gaming sessions (I’m looking at you MMO and strategy gamers). It attaches magnetically and can be flipped over for whichever texture (smooth or rough) you want to rest your wrists on.
The keys respond as perfectly as you’d expect with excellent responses and a satisfying tactile click with each key press.
Getting both the basics and the advanced features absolutely spot on, the Corsair K95 Platinum RGB is unmatched when it comes to quality, comfort and customisation.
An extra flashy gaming keyboard with many added features.

Software could be better
Aesthetically understated and simple, the HyperX Alloy Elite RGB packs all the premium features that you’d expect in a high-end gaming keyboard.
It’s equipped with handy dedicated media controls, USB passthrough, detachable wrist rest and fully customisable RGB backlighting. You also have a choice of Cherry MX Blue, Brown, Red mechanical keys on purchase and it even comes with an extra set of silver keycaps for WASD and the numbers 1-4.
Although it, unfortunately, does lack a dedicated macro column, it has all the essential qualities to massively enhance your gaming experience.
The HyperX Alloy Elite RGB is wonderful value, especially when compared to the feature set of other keyboards in the same price range.
Interface: Wired | Switch: Romer-G | Size: Full size | Backlights: Red | Passthroughs: USB | Media Controls: Through the FN key | Wrist rest: No
High-quality Romer-G key switches
Robust and durable aluminium case
Logitech’s signature build quality
Lack of extra features (dedicated media controls, macro keys, wristrest)
The Logitech G413 offers all the required essentials needed in an excellent gaming keyboard.
With purpose-built Romer-G switches and Logitech’s usual high-level build quality using aluminium, the G413 is a reliable and effective gaming keyboard.
The G413 is flawless in terms of its functionality but since it’s offered at such a reasonable price, there are tradeoffs. Many of the added extras that are seen in more premium gaming keyboards such as dedicated media controls and macro keys have been stripped away.
This leaves a lean but high-level performing gaming keyboard at a reasonable price in the Logitech G413.
The Razer Huntsman Elite takes speed to stratospheric heights with its new cutting edge optomechanical switches.
Basically, Razer has managed to combine mechanical switches and optical sensor and the result is magnificent. There’s no faster keyboard available right now.
And that’s not all…
As you can see, it’s also absolutely gorgeous with fully customisable 16.8 million colour RGB lighting. An easy to use multi-function dial is included which can be used for anything from altering volume levels to scrolling through lighting suites for the RGB colour options.
The detachable magnetic wrist wrest is extremely comfortable to rest on over long periods of time (and it’s RGB enabled!), a full suite of dedicated media controls is provided and the keyboard itself is hugely durable and well built.
The Razer Huntsman Elite is an exceptional fully-featured high-end keyboard with unmatched speed and is definitely one of the best gaming keyboards on the market right now.
While it does come with gorgeous RGB lighting it comes without any unnecessary gimmick or bloat.
Instead, we’re provided with a selection of highly responsive cherry switches so you can have the keyboard customised to suit you perfectly and a ton of features tailored for fans of shooters.
The Ctrl button has been made wider so it’s easier to hit in a tense firefight, full macro customisation is provided and the compact nature of the keyboard means that the keys are much easier to reach. All this is packed into an extremely durable aluminium case.
Interface: Wired | Keyboard backlighting: Per-key RGB | Programmable keys: All | Features: Per key RGB lighting, supports Windows 7+ and OSX 10.8+
Best feeling membrane keys out there
Customisable per key RGB lighting
Membrane keys aren’t as responsive
Lacks extra features
If you’re not suited to the noisy mechanical keys or just want the best possible keyboard for a low price, the Razer Cynosa Chroma is the best option.
The main weakness of membrane keys is that they just aren’t as responsive and don’t as good as mechanical keys. Although that will always be the case to a certain extent, the keys on this keyboard are the best membrane keys I’ve ever experienced.
While it does lack most of the premium features found on high-end keyboards (such as a wrist rest or dedicated media controls), the Razer Cynosa Chroma does feature Razer’s signature quality customisable RGB lighting.
The best gaming keyboard to replace your controller.
Interface: Wired | Switch: Cherry MX Red | Size: Full size | Backlights: Full RGB | Passthroughs: USB | Media Controls: Dedicated | Wrist rest: Yes
Unique, analog aimpad technology
Flawless build quality
Handy dedicated media controls
Premium feature set
Highly responsive mechanical keys
High key resistance
Designed to replace your game controllers, the Cooler MasterMK850 brings something new and innovative to the table.
The main feature is the aimpad technology built into a subset of the deck’s keys. This transforms them with the push of a button into analog inputs quite like the analog stick on a controller meaning you can tilt the keys for different inputs.
This is especially useful in racing games for example where you’d want to be precise with how hard you step on the pedal.
It packs all the other high-end premium features you’d expect too and the build quality is fantastic. Features include dedicated macro keys and media controls, USB passthroughs and a comfortable magnetic wrist rest.
Cooler Master MK850 is very experimental but definitely pays off. For those who want something unconventional but effective, this one’s for you.
They’re highly responsive, they feel really satisfying to type on and are actually pretty quiet.
Although a huge focus is on the appearance (it really does look incredible), let’s not forget that it also has a top-level build quality and added features such as advanced anti-ghosting and dedicated media controls.
Sometimes you just want to keep it simple. Does it look good, is it fast and is it comfortable?
